Alexander v. Humboldt “Kosmos” Lectures Network Visualization

October 2017

For Coding DaVinci 2017, the annual hackathon for cultural data, I explored the data set of the “Kosmos” lectures of Alexander von Humboldt (1827-28), digitized by the Berlin-Brandenburg academy of sciendes (BBAW) and provided by Deutsches Textarchiv.

Drawing on my custom network visualization tool, I was able to quickly create an interactive visualization prototype of the person network quoted or mentioned by A. von Humboldt in his lectures.
